iPhone 17: the screen should have two major new features
Apple could make two “major changes” to the screen of its iPhone 17.
We're just a few weeks away from the official unveiling of the iPhone 17. As is the case every year at this time of year, rumors are rife daily about the Apple brand's upcoming products. For this 2025 vintage, big changes are expected, both in terms of design (with a new camera bump) and hardware (new chips).
But in recent days, it's the iPhone 17's display that's been grabbing analysts' attention. In a post on the Chinese social network Weibo, Apple specialist Digital Chat Station explains that two "major" upgrades are expected this year.

Initially, Apple would like to further reduce the size of the phone's bezels. Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models are the best equipped in this regard. This interface could become the standard in 2025 for the entire iPhone 17 generation, from the standard model to the Pro Max, including the Pro and Air .
An update to Dynamic Island
The other new feature mentioned by Digital Chat Station in its post is the ability to modify Dynamic Island. First introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro, this feature allows Apple to integrate the Face ID notch into the display with a subtle software screen. It's very clever and helps streamline the experience, while we wait to see this sensor disappear under the screen.
While software upgrades are planned for iOS 26 , specifically for the iPhone 17, several rumors have suggested that a physical change to the notch is in Apple's plans. For now, analysts are not sure if this feature will arrive this year, on the iPhone 17, or if we will have to wait another year, and the iPhone 18 in 2026 to benefit from this change.
In any case, we should soon know. Apple should, barring any major surprises, unveil its new iPhone 17 sometime in September. As is the case every year, this will be an opportunity for Tim Cook and his team to take stock of the brand's progress. Alongside the iPhones, new Apple Watches are expected to be released.
